Tallow

Tallow was formed by Meredith Sharp. "I opened Tallow LLC in 2018 after years of experimenting with soap making, balm creating, and educating myself on natural remedies. When I became a mother in 2013, I quickly became disenchanted with skincare products that touted natural ingredients only to find that they weren't in fact natural at all. A question I often asked myself was, 'why would I put this on my baby or my body?' "

"It all began when one of my farmer friends had some suet that he couldn’t sell. One of my friend’s children had an awful case of eczema. I had read about the benefits of tallow for skin issues and decided why not make a tallow balm if it could help his skin? Well, it helped the child's skin immensely and quickly my hobby became a bustling business in just a few months. Using my background in the hard sciences, I love combining the natural world with the chemical world to formulate products that are beautiful and entirely natural. At Tallow, we create products with form and function.

"Used for centuries to moisturize, heal, and protect the skin, tallow is one of the world's original forms of skincare. Using our tallow balms is a return to the 'old ways,' finding in nature what we need to care for ourselves and our families. The use of tallow for skin is twenty thousand years of ancient wisdom and for us, this is a treasured and sacred practice that we are so delighted to share with the world. Handcrafted in small batches, we render the 100% grass-fed and finished suet into tallow ourselves and meticulously source all of the healing plant matter and essential oils that we add in the process of making our balms. This is our assurance to you that there are no denatured, industrialized ingredients being used, and that you are receiving the highest quality and most nutritious skin care possible.

"We start with the best oils for use on the skin: non-GMO avocado oil, organic coconut oil, organic jojoba oil, and organic olive oil. We avoid using any type of nut oil, in case there are sensitivities and allergies for our more sensitive customers."
